Bluebells at Houghall Woods, Durham

I was down at Houghall Woods yesterday and noticed that the bluebells are starting to come into flower, which seems a good couple of weeks earlier than normal.  Did I hear someone say “global warming”?  I didn’t make it to what is normally the best stretch (between NZ276403 and NZ277407 – on the link, zoom in to 1:25,000 for the OS map) but I would guess that within a week they should be well worth a visit.  If you can’t make it, you can see some examples in the galleriesBluebell Wood 2, Bluebell and Bluebell 2.  You’ll also see that the wild garlic is starting to flower.
